Torch Hikes

The alpenglow paints the sky in soft crimson as I stand atop Muottas Muragl, a sight that never fails to steal my breath away. Memories come flooding back; of childhood summers spent counting stars in the twilight on these very slopes. 

The Engadin evenings held a special kind of magic, a hushed tranquillity punctuated by the distant clinking of cowbells and chirping crickets.

Back then, evenings like these meant gathering with friends and family, sharing gossip as we made a descent down the mountainside. The path, bathed in the warm glow of the torches, transformed into an enchanted trail. The air, crisp and clean, carried the sweet scent of wildflowers and pine. With each step the world seemed to shrink, the valley lights twinkling like scattered diamonds below.

There's a romance to these evening hikes, a sense of intimacy and shared adventure. It's a time for hushed conversations, stolen glances at the star-studded sky, and a profound appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us. Muottas Muragl offers the perfect vantage point for such an experience. From its peak you’ll find the most spectacular vista – the entire Engadin Valley sprawling out before you, its lakes reflecting the last rays of the setting sun.
